While having the correct light levels and watering properly are two of the most important steps in growing healthy indoor plants, houseplant growers also have to constantly monitor their plants for signs of pests. There are many types of houseplant bugs, and arming yourself with a little information goes a long waytoward preventing or eliminating an infestation. Learn about houseplant insects and how to handle them from the Master Gardeners of Onondaga County Pam Wildridge. Onondaga County Office for Aging's Caregiver Services will offer a session on Advance Care Planning. In this class, experts in elder law will emphasize the importance of having a conversation with the appropriate persons in your life about creating a well-coordinated plan to help you as you age or in the event of loss of capacity to make decisions.  They will explain the documents that are available to serve as directives including a will, a health care proxy, a power of attorney and a living will. Presenter will be Christine Dettor.

ReZone Syracuse Public Meeting

17th Annual Duck Race to End Racism

The Duck Race to End Racism will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Syracuse Inner Harbor. This annual event is a free family festival that brings together people from all over the community. It features a huge line-up of children’s entertainment, cooperative games, face painting, community information booths and duck races galore. It is a celebration with people of many colors, many different backgrounds and who come from many different walks of life, uniting to demonstrate what the world would look like if racism did not exist. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $5 each to participate in the general public Community Duck Race featuring many prizes and gifts.
