Insurance Considerations for Small Businesses Post COVID-19

SCORE, a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow and succeed nationwide, local chapter will offer mentoring and advice to small businesses during a special virtual session Oct. 30. 

Attendees will learn what you need to know about insurance when starting a small business and what changes existing businesses need to make during this period of the pandemic.

A SCORE expert will cover all the types of insurance needed for new business and the changes necessitated during this trying time for an existing business. Coverage will include: Liability Insurance, Property Insurance, Worker's Compensation Insurance and Medical Insurance.

Free Family-Friendly Trick-or-Treat Drive-Thru

The Southwest YMCA and Onondaga Community College invite families to a free trick-or-treat drive-thru on Halloween from 10 a.m. to Noon on the OCC campus. Attendees will drive-thru, and volunteers will distribute  treats. Cars will process around the road which loops campus, then drive into the parking lot in front of the Southwest YMCA and SRC Arena where there will be a photo booth and plenty of treats for attendees. We Rise Above The Streets will resume servicing Syracuse's homeless friends Saturday, Nov. 7. There are some new social distancing and safety rules the group must implemented to keep all healthy. Organizers will take temperatures and all volunteers must wear a mask as well as practice social distancing. Also hand sanitizer will be available. Earth Corps Encore: Onondaga Earth Corps Virtual Fundraiser

Onondaga Earth Corps mission is to empower youth to be active participants in creating positive change for their communities and their environment. This virtual fundraiser will showcases the OEC crew and their accomplishments this season by showing a professionally made introductory video highlighting past and present work, share current projects and how the organization has responded to the unique challenges of COVID-19 and 2020. Crew, staff and partners will share testimonials, hold a panel discussion and Q&A session.

Rewriting History Virtual Talk & Discussion Panel via Zoom

Fabiola Jean-Louis and catalog writers Dr. Tanisha Jackson, Yvonne Buchanan and Shana Gelin join to discuss Jean-Louis's exhibition "Rewriting History." Jean-Louis’ body of work addresses complicated layers of self-awareness and what makes up the historical truths we have been taught to accept about race and the roles of women, both past and present. She questions and thereby magnifies the injustice of the foundational structure of our society while implicitly asking the viewer to make a change. In this way, Rewriting History engages with a vision of the future – one of resilience and justice. 

Holiday Basket Distribution
