A spoken word performance on the code-switching of bilingualism will be held Feb. 3with Suyent Rodriguez, Pan-African Studies Department of African American Studies at Syracuse University.

Join the Central Library for another visit with Hillary and Mallory, outreach coordinators for Planned Parenthood. This fun, interactive program with Valentine’s Day treats and prizes will discuss the services of Planned Parenthood. Intended for ages 12 – 18; no registration necessary. In this moving tale inspired by the true story of Chris Gardner, a San Francisco salesman struggling to build a future for himself and his 5-year-old son Christopher (Jaden Smith). The library will kick-off its month-long Black History Celebration by creating a kid’s community mural inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King. This will be an on-going mural that can be added to all month long. Free and open to all ages.

Aurora of Central New York will offer free vision screenings and eye health checkups for people aged 55 years and older.

In honor of Black History and Heart Health Month, Holisticsupernatural will offer Wellness Wednesdays. This four-week dinner and learn series will explore the African diet, influencers and heart disease and will examine the differences and similarities of vegetarian and Veganism, how to create a balanced plant-based meal, fight inflammation and maintain proper gut health. Cost is $15 per session or $40 for all four.
