The next Southside TNT meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Danforth Magnet Middle School, 309 W. Brighton Ave. Lanessa Chaplin with the New York Civil Liberties Union will be providing an update regarding the I-81 project.

The Volunteer Lawyers Project of Onondaga County will present a program on residential rental rights and responsibilities. A landlord/tenant court attorney will be on hand with basic information appropriate for both landlords and tenants. A Q&A time will follow. The Equity in Education task force with the Alliance of Communities Transforming Syracuse (ACTS) continues to focus its attention on research and discussion around issues of integration and concerns in the Syracuse City School District and surrounding districts. Task force members also continue to explore the issues of poverty and integration in local schools. Aurora of CNY will offer free vision screenings for seniors 55 and older from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the library's auditorium.

Under the leadership of NBLCA several nonprofit health organizations will be on hand to share resources and information on AIDS prevention and support services for housing, testing and treatment for persons with chronic diseases. Brenda Muhammad will host this session to share genealogy tips and tricks for solving African-American family genealogy mysteries. She will also share her personal genealogy journey.

Artist Art Brangman will utilize his artwork to provide a historical exploration of African-American heritage, urging attendees to begin the process of closure so healing can begin. Participants will also have an opportunity to design their own Adinkra symbols. Brangman’s artwork will remain on display at the library throughout the month.

Joan Hillsman Music Network will host a talent show featuring poetry, dance and a musical performance by the Syracuse Chapter Gospel Music Workshop of America.

View the new “SUN AS ART: Photos from the NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory” exhibit and see a special performance in the Bristol Omnitheater of “Contributing Factors: How Annie Easley Reached NASA” from Syracuse Stage’s Backstory program. The Backstory program is a live, interactive and creative history lesson for upper elementary students to adults. Actors will bring historical characters to life.
