Bring your blankets or lawn chairs and join your friends and neighbors on the library lawn for Soule's Annual Strawberry Festival. The McCarthy's will perform a family-friendly concert that includes a mix of popular favorites as well as songs from Deirdre's native Ireland. And, of course, enjoy the delicious tastes of summer with a strawberry dessert. Fun for all ages. The festival will be moved indoors in the event of rainy weather. Lego literacy helps children make the connection between building structures and building words and sentences. They’re the perfect tool because children learn how to “stick” details onto a basic sentence much as they link Legos together. Join this Lego Literacy event and help your child discover that letters are like Lego blocks; put them together to make words and sentences.

The Stages of Grieving Workshop will explore three stages of grieving: Anticipatory Grief, Grief and New Beginnings (how to move on from grief). Although each person experiences grief in their own way, there are universal messages all share. For those who have a loved one with dementia, the
grieving process often begins long before the person has actually passed away. Participants will have an opportunity to look at ways we all process grief as well as discussing their own experiences.

Follow Jeff the Magic Man on a fun journey through Magical Storyland. Attendees will get a chance to see a cat with a hat and be made honorary Wizards at the Warthogs School of Wizards. This event has been supported by funds from the M&T Charitable Foundation.

Zoo to You is back for the 2017 summer reading program. The world of reading will come alive with this fun and educational program that will bring you face-to-face with exciting zoo animals. Get hands-on with the zoo’s one-of-a-kind animal artifacts, ask a professional zoo educator your animal questions, and learn how you can make a difference to wildlife. Official launch workshop for the City of Syracuse's Salt City Mapping will be held July 8. Salt City Mapping is one of many strategies that the Department of Neighborhood and Business Development is pursuing with grant funds awarded by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) under their Zombie and Vacant Properties Initiative. The Salt City Mapping project will use a mobile surveying app to ask residents for feedback on blighted structures in their neighborhoods and will help prioritize city efforts to reduce and remediate blight. The Syracuse Alumnae chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. will host its Inaugural Golden Alert. The goal of this session is to allow Syracuse Youth (between the ages of 11 to 17) to discuss solutions to make the Syracuse Community safer. Participants will discuss solutions with local leaders in the Onondaga County Justice System. The Golden Alert will provide a safe place to ask questions, build relationships, educate about juvenile justice and make partnerships with community leaders.
