Eighth annual South Side Photo Walk

The Stand's Eighth annual South Side Photo Walk will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22. Participants will meet at the South Side Innovation Center, 2610 S. Salina St., where the event will open with a photo lesson by professional photographers Kate Collins, who is a photo and video manager at syracuse.com, and Marilu Lopez Fretts, who is a freelance and multimedia photographer (mlfphotography.com). After the walk, all participants will share their photos, and the best shots will be published in the September print issue of The Stand. This event is free and open to all ages of any skill level. The July lecture will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 24, at the South Side Innovation Center. The topic will be "Mental Health and the Black Community." Movies Under the Stars

Light of Syracuse, Inc. will host three free Friday movie nights in July: July 7, 21 and 28 (raindates set for July 13 and 27 and Aug. 3). All movies are family-friendly and the featured films will include: "Beauty and the Beast," "Queen of Katwe" and "Jungle Book." Audacity for Storytellers & Musicians

Audacity is a tool for storytellers and music makers. It can be used to create podcast material, soundtracks, songs, voice-overs or audition material. In this workshop, you will learn how to use the Audacity software to record live audio, find free sound effects and Foley clips, and use editing tools to refine your tracks.
