A Perfect 10 Natural Hair Salon will hold the No Lye Celebration Saturday, June 10, at the Dewitt Community Room. Its purpose is to allow the opportunity for the women of Syracuse and surrounding areas to meet in their own communities while networking, sharing, celebrating, embracing and educating one another. It is designed to share information, techniques, inspiration and products to aid individuals in their natural hair journey. Attendees will enjoy food, wine, games, prizes, raffles and an array of Thank You gifts. We will be celebrating all that natural hair represents … braids, twists, locs, curls, coils, kinks, afros, etc… We will be demonstrating hair care techniques, natural hair styling options, proper loc maintenance and answering questions.
Project X Stop the Violence Rally will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 11, at The Atrium, 100 S. Salina St. This event is dedicated to those who have lost their lives to violence and those affected. Families who have lost a loved one to violence are encouraged to attend. Bring a candle and picture of your loved one. Guests include Chief of Police Frank Fowler, Mayor Stephanie Miner and other local anti-violence groups. Free to attend. This is a short educational video on the history of the United States flag prepared by the National Constitution Center. The 15-minute video chronicles the development of and mysteries surrounding the flag. There will be three showings in honor of U.S. Flag Day at noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. For all ages.
