Baby King is a local 3-year-old African-American boy who was born with CD40 Ligand deficiency, a hereditary immune disease that will become fatal without a bone marrow transplant. A bone marrow drive to join the national bone marrow registry will be held at 5:30 Nov. 17 at Ed Smith School. Paperwork, a cheek swab and 15 minutes of your time is all it takes to get tested to see if you may be the match for Baby King.
Elaine “Bad Stanza” Gray was found dead on the ground outside the home of her poetry rival Gary “Glitter” Jones. Jones insisted she must have committed suicide, but an odd haiku poem was found written in lipstick next to her body. Read the characters, inspect the evidence and try to find out who committed this crime. The winner will receive a gift card to Subway.
Join the board of LiteracyCNY for the Birthday of the Century as they honor and recognize Ruth Colvin. As founder of Literacy Volunteers of America and an advocate of adult literacy education, Colvin has dedicated her life to ending the plight of adult illiteracy, here in Syracuse and across the globe. If you’re interested in playing chess or want to learn how to play, come to Betts Branch Library. The library will have have chess sets available, but feel free to bring your own.

Do you have a project that needs some code to get it off the ground? Come to the Central Library Makerspace for a weekly meetup of coders where you can share your projects, get help and learn new skills.
Children up to age 5 can come and play with Beauchamp Branch Library's educational toys and sensory materials as well as make new friends and enjoy books.
