Central Village's First Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Boys & Girls Club Central Village Club location, 212 Van Buren St. The event, hosted by the Central Village Torch Club, will be a brief honoring of some very special people who have supported Central Village over the years -- volunteers or workers who have exemplified exactly what the center's current director Jeff Eysaman preaches to the youth: kindness, selflessness and a caring for their community. “The People’s Champ” screening

"The People's Champ" screening will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Museum of Science and Technology, 500 S. Franklin St. in downtown Syracuse. This new independent film by local director Shamroc Dancil captures the essence of day-to-day life of an inspiring Boxer "The Punisher" Martez Potter who fights his way through the rough inner city of Syracuse. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online here for at total of $13.50 with the processing fees.

The Syracuse Peace Council will host its 47th annual Plowshares Craftsfair and Peace Festival on Dec. 2 and 3 at Nottingham High School, 3100 E. Genesee St. Admission to the fundraiser is a $2-5 sliding scale (more if you can, less if you can't), free for under 16 and over 65. The complete list of vendors is now available online. In addition to the 120 craftspeople and community groups, Plowshares is also a festival, complete with ongoing live entertainment and food for sale from The Mission restaurant.
