A Brief History of Syracuse

The city of Syracuse rose from humble beginnings to become the fifth most populous city in New York state, and grew as a result of the Erie Canal and the industry it spurred. The city no longer has the Erie Canal, but it is still home to the only remaining weighlock from the 19th century waterway. Join The Erie Canal Museum staff for a Facebook Live program by Curator Ashley Maready, detailing Syracuse's early history through its canal years to the present day. It's free and open to all. Be sure to post questions in the comments on this event, or ask questions during the program.
