The short documentary "A Blueprint for Re-renewal" will premiere at the Dunbar Center April 13. The film is a brief narrative of the history and culture of Pioneer Homes and asks questions about its planned demolition. It features interviews with former residents and public housing scholars and examines the human costs of re-renewal. Audience questions will follow a panel discussion that includes the Rev. H. Bishop Alex; David Rufus, NYCLU, and Ibraheem Abdi, social worker and resident. The event is supported by City Scripts, The Most Beautiful Home... Maybe, the Dunbar Center, the Engaged Humanities Network, SUNY-ESF's Digital Storytelling Studio and Write Out. Research for the documentary was supported by the SOURCE, the Renee Crowne Honors program and the Engaged Humanities Network.
