Do you love music? Do you tap to the beat of your favorite songs? Come to a drum circle and letās have some fun. Youāll learn some basic rhythms as we jam with djembe drums, shakers and bells. Itās simple, fun and anyone can do it. Creative Rhythms drum events inspire and strengthen a sense of community, courage and confidence through various facilitated rhythm modules. Creative Rhythms is a wellness program designed by Sandra Sabene/Certified DC Facilitator and expressive arts instructor offering inspiration to communities along the east coast since 2007. Space is limited. Event is supported by funds from the M&T Charitable Foundation.

Planned Parenthood educator Mallory will distribute brochures, fact sheets and give-a-ways, answer questions and talk to teens one-on-one about family planning, sexual health, sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS, minors' rights and much more. All materials include information about where to access low-cost reproductive health care. If appropriate, referrals will be made to partner agencies for additional service needs. JAMS (Joined Artists, Musicians & Singers) 6th annual Musiciansā Cookout will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at Long Branch Park in Liverpool. Tickets are $12.50 and parking is free.
"How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" will screen at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13. Join Betts Branch Library for this movie and snacks. Movie is 1 hour 44 minutes with a MPAA rating of PG; Common Sense Media recommends ages 7 and up. Call the library for further details at (315) 435-1940.
Blues concert with Phil Petroff & friends will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 14, on the Memorial Brick Patio. Admission is free; bring lawn chairs. Concert held inside in case of inclement weather.

Painting with a Twist will offer music, games, prize giveaways all while painting with instruction from a local artist. Each painter will create their very own masterpiece to take home the same day. Otisco Valley Breakdown, a Bluegrass band formed in 2015 that performs original and traditional Bluegrass songs in three-part harmony with the classic fiddle and banjo blend, will perform from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, as part of the Betts Summer Concert Series. Band features Eddie Zacholl on guitar and vocals, Mark Allnatt on banjo and vocals, Dan Mather on bass and vocals and Henry Jankiewicz on fiddle.

Local disability service providers, disability rights advocates and other community partners will come together to celebrate the 29th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) from 10 a.m. to noon July 24 in downtown Syracuse. The purpose of this year's event is to celebrate the passage of the ADA and raise awareness of disabilities in the community. This year's theme is about bringing the HEAT, awareness about the need for accessible and affordable Housing/Healthcare, Education, Access for all and Transportation. Keyna Hora Klezmer will enchant listeners with their lively ethnic Klezmer dances and Yiddish folk songs from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, as part of the Betts Summer Concert Series. Klezmer music is the traditional instrumental music of the Jews of Eastern Europe. Enjoy the Klezmer sound as the soulful music of the synagogue is mixed with the verve of Gypsy melody. The Political Action Committee of the Syracuse/Onondaga County Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will host a Meet & Greet for candidates running for county executive, comptroller, district attorney, county clerk and all county legislature seats. The event will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. July 25 at St. Lucyās Church, 432 Gifford St. Members of the community will have the opportunity to interact directly with the candidates, ask questions and review their campaign material. The event is intended to foster personal interaction between candidates and members of the public. The event is free, open to the public and refreshments will be served.
The Stand will hold its annual Photo Walk for the 10th year Saturday, July 27. A Photo Walk is a social photography event where photographers get together to explore a neighborhood, shoot photos and practice their skills. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and start from the South Side Innovation Center, 2610 S. Salina St. Because this year is the 10th anniversary, multiple walks will be held. Interested participants may sign up for a specific walk or arrive day of the walk and pick which to join. Tomorrow's Neighborhoods Today Southside's Housing task force will host the Get the Lead Out Block Party July. The event will be held behind Dunk and Bright Furniture on the grassy area. The purpose of the event is to educate residents about lead poisoning prevention. Information on grants and low cost loans will be available. Tabling will include: the County Health Department, Home HeadQuarters, Legal Services of CNY and more. Healthy foods will be served, and entertainment will include music and bouncy house and carnival games for youth.

Four Thursdays in August, a different Syracuse neighborhood will resound with the sounds of national and local jazz artists. On Aug. 1, listen to the Blacklites with Rhonda Plunket. Concert is free and open to the public.
