Each year, the Juneteenth Festival is held to acknowledge and educate the community about the importance of Juneteenth, as well as the role that people in the greater Syracuse & Central New York had, and continue to have in achieving and maintaining freedom, equality and opportunity for our nation’s African Americans. The festival is an inclusive event transcending racial and ethnic boundaries. The entire community is invited to join in this free celebration featuring live entertainment, an educational area, a culturally diverse food court, the Dr. Henry A. Washington Health Pavilion, exhibits and more.

Watch "A Wrinkle in Time" at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 30. This film is a science fantasy based on a novel written by American writer Madeleine L'Engle, first published in 1962. The book won the Newbery Medal, Sequoyah Book Award and Lewis Carroll Shelf Award, and was runner-up for the Hans Christian Andersen Award. It is the first book in L'Engle's Time Quintet, a series of five novels. The novels show themes of love, loss, friendship, loneliness and the triumph of good over evil.
