Underground Railroad Lap Quilt Raffle

Quilts may have played a significant role in communication between slaves and helped them on their way to freedom. In honor of Black History Month, the Friends will raffle a lap quilt whose design is inspired by the Underground Railroad. Morehouse College Glee Club will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Bethany Baptist Church, 149 Beattie St. Founded in 1911, the Glee Club has a long tradition of significant public appearances, including Martin Luther King Jr.'s funeral, President Jimmy Carter's inauguration, Super Bowl XXVIII and the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. This local performance is offered with support from 100 Black Men of Syracuse, Syracuse University, CNY Arts and the Rotary Club of Syracuse.
