Syracuse Gun Buyback

St Lucy's Food Pantry 425 Gifford St., Syracuse, NY, United States

A Gun Buyback will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, may 7, at St. Lucy’s Food Pantry, 425 Gifford St. Those who return hand guns assault rifles and other firearms under the amnesty program will be eligible to receive a financial payment in the form of a pre-paid gift card. The following types of firearms will be accepted at the following rates: Assault Rifle - $300, Handgun - $150, Rifle or Shotgun - $75, Non-working, replica or antique gun - $25. Additional gift card may be available for ghost gun or non-serialized guns.No identification is needed to turn in a firearm and no questions are asked of persons dropping off firearms. Weapons returned must be unloaded and placed in a box or plastic or paper bag. Individuals can surrender as many firearms as they wish to provide. Licensed gun dealers and active or retired law enforcement officers are not eligible for the program.The program is hosted by the Office of New York State Attorney General Letitia James.

Strathmore Speakers Series: M. C. Antil “Floor Burns”

The Strathmore Speakers Series and Onondaga Free Library will host an evening with author and Syracuse native M.C. Antil as he discusses “Floor Burns: Love, Passion and the 1967 Syracuse All-City Championship” 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 12, over Zoom.  A brief Q&A will follow Antil’s talk. This presentation is free and open to the public.

A Chance to be Seen Variety Show Audition

Cannon Street Community Center 515 Cannon St., Syracuse, NY, United States

“A Chance to Be Seen” Variety Show. The event's theme is "We Are Family!" Auditions take place Saturday, May 14, on the field next to the Cannon Street Community Center (Corner of West Brighton Ave. and Cannon Street) from noon to 4 p.m. Performers are encouraged to send the music they will use for the audition by email to the show producer or bring their music on CD or mp3 format the day of the audition.
