Journey through music of the African Diaspora (JMAD) Presents James Gordon Williams with his band Outlaw Culture Music. Doors open at 6 p.m. with concert starting at 6:30 p.m.

The Skä•noñh – Great Law of Peace Center will have its Grand Opening to the public with a festival-like atmosphere on Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Center will be a hub of activity as visitors will have their first opportunity to experience the culture of the Haudenosaunee like never before. The brand new exhibits will explore the subjects of Skä•noñh, the Thanksgiving Address, the Creation Story, the Great Law of Peace, Native American/European contact and Haudenosaunee contributions to the American way of life. The centerpiece of each exhibit section will be an educational film that features the Haudenosaunee people explaining their heritage and values as they have been passed down from generation to generation. The day will be filled with programs and activities including a book discussion, artist demonstrations, and native music and food. There is no admission fee on Saturday and all are welcome.

Building Bridges, a special workshop at Beauchamp Branch Library, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28. The session is free and open to all. Youth can learn how bridges defy gravity and hold you up, learn why some hold trucks and trains but others wobble when you walk on them. Beauchamp Branch Library will host a city-wide talent showcase starting at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, for ages 12 and up (please preregister be calling the library at 435-3395). A great opportunity for participants to showcase their talent, gain exposure and perform.

Tomorrow’s Neighborhoods Today Area 3 South Side Meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at the South Side Innovation Center, 2610 S. Salina St. The meeting is free and open to the public. TNT aims to create a comprehensive process for involving neighborhood residents, businesses, and organizations in planning for their neighborhoods. The South Side group regularly meets at 6 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at the SSIC. Meetings are subject to change if necessary. Beauchamp Library will host a workshop on Emotion Control for ages 13 and up starting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8.

Toddler/Preschooler Story Time will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Dec. 9 and 16 at Beauchamp Branch Library.

A South Side Neighborhood Team Initial Organizing Meeting will be held at 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at the South Side Innovation Center. This will be Believe in Syracuse's first organizing meeting of the group's South Side Neighborhood Team. Free food will be provided and neighbors are encouraged to talk about ways to make the community better for our children and grandchildren. The evening's agenda will include: Introductions, more about Believe in Syracuse's Community Organizing Program, a brainstorm session on neighborhood improvements, followed by a recap and next steps.
