Visioning Voices Community Speaker Series and Workshop

Come learn about growing healthy neighborhoods in your city. The Brighton Neighborhood in Syracuse’s South Side will serve as host to welcome all to learn how environment affects a community's quality of life, and what residents can do to improve all neighborhoods. Come together to enjoy a free dinner and presentations by Isella Ramirez and Casey Wang of Hester Street Collaborative as they share their experience in creating more equitable, sustainable and vibrant neighborhoods where community voices can lead the way in improving their environments. Attend the activities that best suit you. From 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. a walking tour will be offered, starting from the SSIC. From 4 to 5:30 p.m. a presentation and discussion with the guest speakers will be held followed by dinner at 6 p.m. A workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. will close the evening. Bone Marrow Registry Drive for Baby King

Baby King is a local 3-year-old African-American boy who was born with CD40 Ligand deficiency, a hereditary immune disease that will become fatal without a bone marrow transplant. A bone marrow drive to join the national bone marrow registry will be held at 5:30 Nov. 17 at Ed Smith School. Paperwork, a cheek swab and 15 minutes of your time is all it takes to get tested to see if you may be the match for Baby King.

Teen Murder Mystery

Elaine “Bad Stanza” Gray was found dead on the ground outside the home of her poetry rival Gary “Glitter” Jones. Jones insisted she must have committed suicide, but an odd haiku poem was found written in lipstick next to her body. Read the characters, inspect the evidence and try to find out who committed this crime. The winner will receive a gift card to Subway.
