If you’re interested in playing chess or want to learn how to play, come to Betts Branch Library. The library will have have chess sets available, but feel free to bring your own.

Are you interested in learning how to code or program a computer? Are you a coder looking to improve you skills and meet others with similar interests? Do you have a project that needs some code to get it off the ground? Come to the Central Library Makerspace for a weekly meetup of coders where you can share your projects, get help and learn new skills.

Children up to age 5 can come and play with Beauchamp Branch Library's educational toys and sensory materials as well as make new friends and enjoy books.

Come learn about growing healthy neighborhoods in your city. The Brighton Neighborhood in Syracuse’s South Side will serve as host to welcome all to learn how environment affects a community's quality of life, and what residents can do to improve all neighborhoods. Come together to enjoy a free dinner and presentations by Isella Ramirez and Casey Wang of Hester Street Collaborative as they share their experience in creating more equitable, sustainable and vibrant neighborhoods where community voices can lead the way in improving their environments. Attend the activities that best suit you. From 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. a walking tour will be offered, starting from the SSIC. From 4 to 5:30 p.m. a presentation and discussion with the guest speakers will be held followed by dinner at 6 p.m. A workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. will close the evening. Central Library’s Teen Advisory Board is a group that helps plan programs to make the downtown library a great place for teens to hang out. New members are always welcome. To learn more, call the library at (315) 435-1900.

Conversation groups are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Central Library downtown for those who wish to practice their English speaking and listening skills. Adults who wish to join a class should call (315) 435-1835 for details.

Elaine “Bad Stanza” Gray was found dead on the ground outside the home of her poetry rival Gary “Glitter” Jones. Jones insisted she must have committed suicide, but an odd haiku poem was found written in lipstick next to her body. Read the characters, inspect the evidence and try to find out who committed this crime. The winner will receive a gift card to Subway.
