Toddler/Preschooler Story Time will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Dec. 9 and 16 at Beauchamp Branch Library.
A South Side Neighborhood Team Initial Organizing Meeting will be held at 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at the South Side Innovation Center. This will be Believe in Syracuse's first organizing meeting of the group's South Side Neighborhood Team. Free food will be provided and neighbors are encouraged to talk about ways to make the community better for our children and grandchildren. The evening's agenda will include: Introductions, more about Believe in Syracuse's Community Organizing Program, a brainstorm session on neighborhood improvements, followed by a recap and next steps. Syracuse-native and accomplished spoken-word artist, Mic tha Poet, welcomes all to a showcase of poetic prowess and aggressive wordplay at Art Rage. A Christmas Party will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 23 at Beauchamp Branch Library. All welcome.
A Puppet Making Workshop will be presented by Open Hand Theater at 11 a.m. Dec. 24. Using simple concepts of math and physics and properties of light and shadow, children will create simple jointed puppets that can be manipulated through scenes and stories in a 45-minute workshop. All supplies are provided. For ages 8 to 14 years.
Work in teams and compete to create the tallest Marshmallow Towers using toothpicks and marshmallows. Open to ages 5 and up at Beauchamp Branch Library from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 28.
“Meet the Orchestra” session will be held at Beauchamp Branch Library from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 29 to hear and meet a viola duo from Syracuse’s Symphoria.
