Volunteer tutors spend at least one hour weekly reading, writing and talking with students in kindergarten to third grade at Syracuse city schools. A training to become a Syracuse City School District tutor through the Oasis program will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Syracuse Teacher Center, 1005 W. While Baltimore Woods Nature Center's trails close at dusk, life in The Woods is just starting to stir when the sun goes down. For one night only, the center will offer this chance to explore the nocturnal world during an
event for all ages. Using flashlights, black lights and no lights at all, attendees' senses will be put to the test to

The Onondaga County Office for Aging is sponsoring this event for seniors age 60 and older to raise awareness on preventing fall-related injuries. “400: An Afrikan Epic” explores thousands of years of the history that is pre-colonial Afrika, the Ma’afa (the 400 years between 1619 and 2019), and Afro-futurism expressing a vision of what blacks in America will heal toward in the next 400 years; a healthy, high functioning, and united block of the African diaspora.
