The Political Action Committee of the Syracuse/Onondaga County Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will host a Meet & Greet for candidates running for county executive, comptroller, district attorney, county clerk and all county legislature seats. The event will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. July 25 at St. Lucy’s Church, 432 Gifford St. Members of the community will have the opportunity to interact directly with the candidates, ask questions and review their campaign material. The event is intended to foster personal interaction between candidates and members of the public. The event is free, open to the public and refreshments will be served.

Four Thursdays in August, a different Syracuse neighborhood will resound with the sounds of national and local jazz artists. On Aug. 1, listen to the Blacklites with Rhonda Plunket. Concert is free and open to the public.

A Visit with CNY Nature will be offered from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at the downtown Central Library in the KidSpace on Level 2. No registration required & children of all ages welcome.

The Southside Community Coalition (SCC) will host the second Sankofa Fest from noon to 8 p.m. Aug. 10, at Sankofa Park, 2101 S. Salina St. The festival will feature local performing artists, as well as, nationally recognized artists including Farrah Presents Tribal Hop and violinist Windy Indie. The festival will begin with a parade, and festival attendees may attend workshops on yoga, Doula practices, local civic issues and others. 

Jazz concert with E. S. P. will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, on the Memorial Brick Patio. Admission is free; bring lawn chairs. Concert held inside in case of inclement weather.
