The Tomorrow's Neighborhoods Today Area 3 Planning Council meets regularly on the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at the South Side Innovation Center, 2610 S. A SUN member meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the Brady Faith Center. Ed Michalenko, president of the Onondaga Environmental Institute, will be the guest speaker to talk about a proposal he wrote for Lower Onondaga Creek.
The Block Blitz is an annual community revitalization event organized by Home HeadQuarters that brings together homeowners, community partners, skilled laborers and volunteers who donate their time and talents to help cleanup, landscape, paint and repair as many homes as possible in a single day in a high-need neighborhood. This year's event is set for Sept. 14 in Syracuse's South Side. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the 100-200 blocks of West Borden Avenue and will include the 200 block of West Beard and some of Landon avenues.
The National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS, Inc. will offer safe sex kits, education materials and referrals to additional services. Note the SRC will be open to the public during this event and the food pantry will be open. Event held in collaboration with the Onondaga Health Department (PrEP).

Sankofa Fest aims to make the Sankofa District the drum and heartbeat of Syracuse. The event will feature and celebrate musicians, artists, entrepreneurs and businesses who love and support the South Side.
Dan the Snakeman will share his knowledge and animal experience at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Beauchamp Branch Library. He will thrill his audiences with these amazing animals. Made possible in part by a state grant secured by Sen. John A. DeFrancisco.
Apples are fun for more than just eating. Visitors to the library will be making apple volcanoes, boats, towers and more. Plus, the group will finish by making apple pie playdough to take home. For ages 6 – 12.
The 26th annual Westcott Street Cultural Fair will begin at noon Sunday, Sept. 17, on Westcott Street between Concord and Dell streets. The fair is an annual, one-day celebration of the diversity and uniqueness of the Westcott neighborhood through its culture, visual and performing arts, food, service organizations and family-friendly activities. Free to attend.
NBLCA of Syracuse will observe National HIV/AIDS Awareness Day for the Aging from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 18, at Syracuse Community Connections in Clovers Corners for Seniors.
