Ecothot, a volunteer group committed to increasing city beautification, will hold bi-weekly cleanups in Syracuse. Residents are welcome and encouraged to participate. The first event is a kickoff of the city's Adopt-a-Block program and is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 5, with Mayor Ben Walsh at McKinley Park, 351 W. Newell St.

TNT Southside Meeting

In June, Tomorrow's Neighborhoods Today Southside will welcome primary candidates to the 6 p.m. Monday, June 7, virtual public meeting. Additional topics discussed during this meeting include updates on plans for a 72-unit mixed income property at the corner of East Kennedy and South Salina streets and proposed plans for the East Colvin Repaving Project.

Each candidate will be given 5 minutes to introduce themselves. This session is not intended to be a debate.

Outdoor Paint Party with Artist Nada Odeh

Join the Community Folk Art Center for an outdoor paint party led by artist Nada Odeh. Odeh will demonstrate how to use acrylics to create a one-of-a-kind painting. Participants will be socially distanced and required to wear a mask.  The rain date for this workshop is June 24. Re-Boot the I-81 Planning and Public Review Process

GreeningUSA's next virtual green bag lunch presentation will focus on I-81 and is titled "Re-Boot the I-81 Planning and Public Review Process." The session begins at noon at will be held over GoTo Meeting. Panel organizer  is Robert Haley, AIA, LEED AP, Architect, with guest panelists to be announced. This Green Bag Lunch will outline a plan for a long term, sustainable development program to complement the $2B Department of Transportation (DOT) reconstruction project in CNY. It would be a joint city, county, state and federal incentive program to assist all property owners along the current I-81 corridor (called the “BL” or “Business Loop” in the DOT DEIS plan). This joint governmental program would focus current and future sustainable funding for qualifying projects along the current I-81 route through the city and county.
