Dunbar Center’s Annual Dinner and Celebration

The community is invited to Dunbar Center’s Annual Dinner and Celebration "Reclaiming Our Time and Place" to be held at the Genesee Grande. The reception begins at 5 p.m. and the dinner/program will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.  The evening's keynote speaker is Juhanna Rodgers, Ph.D. author and producer of "Behind the Woman." This year’s awardees include Evelyn Ingram, Community Service Award; David MacDonald, Community Partner Award, and Emmanuel Breland, Liz Page and Milton Fields, Trailblazer Award. Betts Summer Concert Series

Otisco Valley Breakdown, a Bluegrass band formed in 2015 that performs original and traditional Bluegrass songs in three-part harmony with the classic fiddle and banjo blend, will perform from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, as part of the Betts Summer Concert Series. Band features Eddie Zacholl on guitar and vocals, Mark Allnatt on banjo and vocals, Dan Mather on bass and vocals and Henry Jankiewicz on fiddle.

A class on Planning & Starting Your New Business will be offered by Syracuse SCORE Chapter 98 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Tuesday, July 23, at the East Side Business Center, 1201 E. Fayette St.  Cost is $75, which includes lunch. Veterans are free courtesy of a grant from M&T Bank and parking is free for all attendees. The class will provide a step by step process to go through to evaluate if one is ready and what is needed to start on the road to business ownership.  Topics include business plan, marketing, feasibility plan, financial matters and projections.
