Consensus — the commission on local government modernization – is helping to shape a vision for more effective and efficient local governance in Onondaga County. The group is holding public meeting to hear from residents. Future meetings will be held:
Feb. 10 – Camillus Town Hall | 6 to 7:30 p.m. | 4600 W. Genesee St.
Feb. 11 – City Hall Commons | Noon to 1 p.m. | 201 E. Washington St.
Feb. 29 – Southwest Community Center | 6 to 8 p.m. | 401 South Ave.

February is American Heart Month. Focusing Our Resources for Community Enlightenment (FORCE) Ready Syracuse Project will provide information about cardiovascular disease and CPR. Attendees will watch the course DVD, then get a chance to learn and practice hands-only CPR on an adult manikin.
Learn quilting techniques from the Sankofa Piece Makers quilting group and find out how quilting was used throughout African-American history.
Syracuse University’s Pan African Graduate Students will lead a discussion that encourages wellness on all levels and explore the ways that self-love and self-care are important in the world we live in today.
Family Movie: “From the Rough” will be screened at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Beauchamp Branch Library, 2111 S. Salina St. Viewers will enjoy the story of Dr. Catena Starks as the first African-American woman to coach a men’s college golf team.
The library staff has organized a scavenger hunt with a black history month theme.
