Underground Railroad Lap Quilt Raffle

Quilts may have played a significant role in communication between slaves and helped them on their way to freedom. In honor of Black History Month, the Friends will raffle a lap quilt whose design is inspired by the Underground Railroad. Drawing takes place 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb 28; tickets available starting Feb. 1. Single tickets $5 or five tickets for $20. For more information, call (315) 492-1727.

“No Innocence This Side of the Womb" symposium will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, in the Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium, Newhouse 3. The event, hosted by Syracuse University's Newhouse Center for Global Engagement, will bring together Syracuse and South African artists, academics, activists and journalists to explore issues of equality, privilege and justice in Syracuse and South Africa.
