Official launch workshop for the City of Syracuse's Salt City Mapping will be held July 8. Salt City Mapping is one of many strategies that the Department of Neighborhood and Business Development is pursuing with grant funds awarded by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) under their Zombie and Vacant Properties Initiative. The Salt City Mapping project will use a mobile surveying app to ask residents for feedback on blighted structures in their neighborhoods and will help prioritize city efforts to reduce and remediate blight. The Syracuse Alumnae chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. will host its Inaugural Golden Alert. The goal of this session is to allow Syracuse Youth (between the ages of 11 to 17) to discuss solutions to make the Syracuse Community safer. Participants will discuss solutions with local leaders in the Onondaga County Justice System. The Golden Alert will provide a safe place to ask questions, build relationships, educate about juvenile justice and make partnerships with community leaders.
