Horizons: New Film Out of Central New York
September 3, 2020 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm
Light Work’s Urban Video Project will host “Horizons: New Film Out of Central New York” Sept. 3 – 5. In partnership with the Innovative Group of CNY, the three-day showcase highlights films by 2020 CNY Film Short Competition winners, including Isaak Cintron, Carlton Daniel, Kathryn Ferentchak and Charles Stulck.
Stulck’s 2019 “Apocalypse…Now?” is 15 minutes long and follows a blossoming romance between two individuals with opposing perspectives on the topic of the end of the world. Daniel’s “Homegoing” is 13 minutes long, featuring Junior, who balances the expectations of working at his father’s funeral home with nights out with friends. When grief intrudes on his closest relationships, Junior must face the real world. Cintron’s “Early Bird” is 14 minutes long and set in the 1970s. It follows a bank robber who hid the money from his latest score and the bounty hunter who must return him to their superiors. Ferentchak’s “I Wish” is 11 minutes long and adapted from the 1973 short story by novelist Bill Pronzini, about David, a curious teenager with Down Syndrome, who escapes his mother’s watchful eye for a few hours to explore a lonely stretch of the Lake Ontario shoreline.
Exhibition patrons visiting the plaza must maintain a social distance of at least 6 feet between individuals at all times, except for groups visiting from the same household. All are encouraged to wear face masks.
