Foster Care & Adoption Info Session for LGBTQ People

September 24, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

The Central New York LGBTQ Child Welfare Coalition is holding a “Foster Care & Adoption Information Session for LGBTQ People” from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Q Center at 617 W. Genesee St. Come to this free event to learn more about the foster care and adoption process in an LGBTQ-affirming setting.

Of the 19,302 children in New York State foster care, 5,376 have a goal of adoption, and approximately 1,000 are legally freed and waiting for an adoptive family.  More than ever, members of the LGBTQ communities are needed as temporary or permanent parents to these children and youth.

  • Network with other LGBTQ parents and prospective parents.
  •  Several local agencies will be represented and you will hear from parents who have gone through the process.
  •  You will be encouraged to pick up free information, ask questions, and enjoy complimentary refreshments.
  •  Training hours available for any foster-adoptive parent.
