The Stand
All they want is fresh food. More than a year has passed since the local P&C has closed, turning the South Side into a food wasteland. Some residents drive out to the suburbs, others take the bus to buy their food. Until now. In August, Onondaga County made a $100,000 contribution to the Jubilee Homes of Syracuse Inc. grocery store initiative. This is the largest contribution to date. If all goes according to plan, construction and renovation of the building at 611 South Ave. is scheduled to begin early next year.
