Carve your pumpkin, grab your candy bag and put on your favorite costume, it’s Halloween time! Here are some upcoming Halloween events for the South Side community:
Spooktacular
Oct. 22 & 23
6 to 9 p.m.
Burnet Park, located on border of Avery, Coleridge and Grand avenues
Presented by the City of Syracuse Department of Parks, Recreation and Youth, Spooktacular is a free Halloween extravaganza held at Burnet Park. The former rink area of the park will be a large Pumpkin Patch, featuring activities and treats for children up to age 16. For those who enjoy a good scare, there will be tours of a Haunted House.
General admission and the Haunted House are free, but there will be a nominal fee for some of the activities in the Pumpkin Patch. For more information, call (315) 473-4330.
Spooktacular Party
Thursday, Oct. 28
6 to 8 p.m.
Beauchamp Branch Library, 2111 S. Salina St., Syracuse
Open to the public, the Beauchamp Library Spooktacular Party is a free event for local families and children. Guests are encouraged to wear costumes to get in the Halloween spirit.
The party will include crafts, such as making masquerade masks, and an array of game stations, including bingo, and prizes for the winners. Healthy snacks will also be provided—apples, baby carrots, cookies and apple juice—and goodie bags with candy will be passed out.

Halloween Party

Cannon Street Community Center, 529 Cannon St., Syracuse
The Community Center is hosting a Halloween party for kids who regularly attend the Cannon Street Community Center program. The party will include costumes, games, like bingo, and candy bags. Syracuse University students will also attend and help with games and provide the regular Center attendees with face painting.

Mary Nelson Youth Center, 2849 S. Salina St., Syracuse
The Mary Nelson Youth Center is hosting a free Halloween party for South Side youth. The Center invites kids to come dressed up in costumes for a spectacular costume contest, where winners will receive prizes and treats. A fun-filled day of activities and games, such as dunking for apples, are also planned.
