Six-Week Book Discussion Continues through Feb. 25
“Raising Our Black Boys,” a six-week book discussion group for women and men, began Thursday, Jan. 21. Presented by Mothers Offering Youth Opportunity (MOYO), discussions focus on two books by Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu: “Countering the Conspiracy to Destroy Black Boys” and “Raising Black Boys.”
All meetings are scheduled to be held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursdays, Jan. 21 through Feb. 25, at Mary Nelson’s Youth Center, 2849 S. Salina St., Syracuse.

Jan. 21: The “Problem” with Black Boys
Jan. 28: The Fourth Grade Failure Syndrome: Black Boys and Education
Feb. 4: Where Are Our Men? The Role of Fathers and Mentors in the Lives of Black Boys
Feb. 11: Black Mothers Raising Black Boys Alone
Feb. 18: Countering the School to Prison Pipeline
Feb. 25: Developing Positive Self-Images for Black Boys
