The Stand’s community reporter Arnett Haygood-El captures the day’s happenings at Mary Nelson’s Eighth annual Youth Day Barbecue held Saturday, Aug. 15. This annual event provides needed school supplies and backpacks to all students who attend — free of charge. Attendees also receive lunch and can watch entertainment. The event also draws a number of community representatives and community organizations.
