South Side Photo Walk

The Stand annual South Side Photo Walk will be held Saturday, July 18, beginning at 10 a.m. at the South Side Innovation Center. A Photo Walk is a social photography event where photographers get together to explore a neighborhood, shoot photos and practice their skills. Participants will follow a path through the South Side, leaving from the South Side Innovation Center. Attendees will take photos of the neighborhood and neighbors along the way. The event will open with a short lesson by professional photographer and multimedia producer Marilu Lopez Fretts. After the walk, participants will share their photos with the group and receive feedback. The day's best shots will be printed in the September issue of The Stand. Haiku Workshop Coming up this Saturday, March 3

On Saturday, March 3, the Syracuse Poster Project will collaborate with The Stand for the second year in a row to present the South Side poetry workshop. On Monday, Feb. 13, the Syracuse/Onondaga Co. NAACP and the Syracuse Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta will hold a voter education meeting at the Peoples A.M.E Zion Church at 2306 S. Local Jazz Company Inspires a Night of Dance

If you walked into the doors of the Sitrus at the Sheraton Hotel on Friday, Feb. 3, it would be difficult not to notice Mike and Sharon Colabufo, a couple in their 60s, dancing to the live performance of the CNY Jazz Trio featuring Lorenzo.
