Summer Issue

The Stand’s Summer print issue features Charles Rivers on the cover, who after serving 19 years, 9 months and 4 days in prison, returned to Syracuse in 2012. He now runs PEACE, Inc.’s South Side center and has helped parolees reunite with their families in Syracuse under a $95,000 pilot grant. Currently, PEACE is waiting to see if the grant will be renewed, allowing further support for ex-offenders trying to start over in free society.

This issue is also the final edition overseen by The Stand’s Founder Steve Davis. He retires at the end of this school year and has been with the project since inception.

Also hear from a group of single mothers who share openly and honestly about the challenges they face. Learn what a typical day is like for a Syracuse City School District School Resource Officer, and read the final piece in our They Wear Blue series, plus even more stories.

Lastly find out how The Stand became so popular in Italy!

Our summer issue will be out Saturday, May 5, and on news stands through August. To download the full issue as a pdf, click here.
