In encouraging scholarly pursuit, Xi Chapter of the Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority, a national sisterhood organization whose mission is to provide community service and support, encourage scholarly pursuits and empower its members to address societal issues, held its 41th annual Youth Achievement Luncheon Saturday, June 12, at the Drumlins Country Club.
The group will be highlight the achievement of high school juniors and seniors in the areas of the Arts, Community Service, Science and Sports and give incentive awards to a students from the Syracuse City K-8 and middle schools.
Middle School Incentive Awards
Middle School awardees are chosen by their schools with the collaboration of their teachers and counselors. Xi awarded 13 males and 13 females from each of the Syracuse City School District Middle and K-8 schools.
High School Achievement Awards
Achievement awards go to:
• Anthony Wright of Corcoran High School, Syracuse for the Art (Vocal Music) category
• Amber Green of Corcoran High School for the Community Service category
• Krysta Mann of Nottingham High School of Syracuse for the Science category.
• Emily Daniels of Corcoran High School for the Sports (Tennis) category
Carolyn Tyler Memorial Incentive Award
Our CTM Incentive Award is a five hundred dollar stipend awarded to a graduating African-American female from a high school in Onondaga County. The young lady chosen can receive this stipend for four years.
The 2010 CTM Awardee is Nicosa Martin of Jamesville DeWitt High School.
