Our November cover features family members of gunshot victim Antonio Gullotto who came together to honor the memory of Gullotto during iApologize’s first Park & John Street Memorial Cookout organized by Rashawn Sullivan. The iApologize Foundation is working with the families of victims of gun violence to turn the site of past tragedies into a community garden for all to enjoy.
This issue also spotlights father Hasan Stephens, founder and CEO of The Good Life Foundation; a look at the city’s new Financial Empowerment Center; a profile on The Stand’s volunteer David Haas who also runs the popular @SyracuseHistory Instagram account, and coverage of the ceremony to posthumously admit William Herbert Johnson to the New York State Bar, 116 years after he denied entry due to racial discrimination.
November’s issue includes a request from the community for perspectives on the I-81 project. Our goal is to give residents the information they need to develop their own informed opinions. Letters will be accepted through Nov. 12 and featured in our Winter print issue. Learn how to submit a letter here.
