Poetry by Michael Ryan

If only I knew what poetry was, I’d write you and spill my soul.

I’d share what I felt, you’d see what I see, our connection being the only goal.

If the soul were alone with no body to relate the physical I could truly state

Or maybe then there would be no soul at all, and this world we see is our only fate.

So this is my poetry, raw and as my first attempt.

To express most sincere feelings I once held with contempt.

For who once needed poetry at all?
