Remembering Families in Need

Posted on November 16th, 2011 by The Stand in Events

Recently, Charles Cannon, lead singer of the gospel group The Bells of Harmony, took time to remember the less fortunate.

On Saturday, Nov. 12, a fall gospel singing and fundraiser took place at the Living Water Church on Huron Street to collect can goods and other donations for food baskets for anyone in need in lieu of the holidays coming upon us.

Donations will be provided to local families over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Gospel groups such as The Sensational Saints, The Foundations’ and nationally known, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, also participated in this praising, singing and shouting song filled evening.

Yes the holidays are coming upon us and there are so many people that are sick, shut in and have lost jobs, who really do appreciate the extra help.

If you would like to take a part in being a cheerful giver, it’s not too late! Donations are still being accepted through the end of November at the Dunbar Association on South State Street. Just let them know you’re donating on behalf of the “Fall Gospel Singing & Fundraiser” event or simply just donate.
